October 2026 Newsletter

October has arrived, and there’s no better way to kick off the month than with one of our community’s biggest and most beloved traditions - the 87th Annual Red Flannel Festival! Join us this morning for Family Storytime in front of the Fireplace at 10:30 a.m. with none other than the Red Flannel Queen and her Court! Then, be sure to browse the Cedar Springs Friends of the Library Used Book Sale and snag some gently used books and media at bargain prices. Whether you’re here for the flannel, the festivities, or simply the joy of being part of our community, we’d love to see you! Explore the 2026 Red Flannel Festival.

Inside this month’s newsletter, you’ll find a special note from our director, details about the re-launch of our mobile hotspot program and upcoming events, and a special invitation to our holiday open house. So grab your favorite flannel, settle in with a cup of something warm, and see what’s happening at Cedar Springs Public Library this October!

From the Director’s Desk:

Celebrate Michigan Library Appreciation Month & MI Right to Read Week!

October is Michigan Library Appreciation Month, celebrating what libraries mean to our communities. Libraries are more than books. We are places to learn, discover, connect, and find reliable information. We provide access to technology and resources, support literacy and lifelong learning, and offer opportunities for people of all ages to explore their interests. We strive to be a vibrant community hub where knowledge, connections, and curiosity empower every person to learn, grow, and thrive.

MI Right to Read Week, October 4-10, reminds us that libraries play an important role in protecting the freedom to read and giving everyone the opportunity to discover a wide range of ideas and perspectives. At CSPL, we believe our communities are strongest when people have the freedom to read, learn, question, and think for themselves. Visit www.mirighttoread.com to see how you can support your, and your neighbors’, intellectual freedom.

Show your Library Appreciation this October! Visit CSPL, check out something new, attend a program, explore our digital resources, or simply spend some time discovering what your local library has to offer.

Happy Reading!
